Alec May and Jo'el Kimpela Earn Corvais Patriot League Weekly Honors

Oct. 13, 2014 WASHINGTON - Senior defensive end Alec May (Wrenthem, Mass./King Phillip) and junior running back Jo'el Kimpela (Kinshasa, D.R. Congo/Euless Trinity) both earned Corvais Patriot League weekly honorable mention, when the league announced award winners on Monday afternoon. It is the seventh honor of May's career and the second for Kimpela.

May earned his fourth PL weekly honor of the season and seventh of his career after an eight tackle, 3.0 tackle for loss of 37 yards and 3.0 sack performance against Lafayette on Saturday. May leads the Patriot League and Division I FCS with 12.5 sacks, while also leading the PL and placing fifth in tackles for loss with 2.1 per game. His 106 tackle for loss yards leads Division I FCS. His seven career PL weekly awards is the most by a Hoya.

Kimpela turned in a career-best performance, rushing for 159 yards on 20 carries with a 19-yard rushing touchdown. He also caught three passes for 14 yards, helping GU pile up a season-high 447 yards of total offense against the Leopards. The game was Kimpela's second 100-yard effort of the season. Kimpela earns his second PL weekly honor. He was the PL Rookie of the Week in 2012 after accounting for over 100 all-purpose yards and a touchdown against Lafayette.

The Hoyas have a bye, before returning to action on Saturday, October 25 when they host Patriot League rival Bucknell for Homecoming on the Hilltop. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
