Georgetown Football Welcomes Morgan State on Homecoming Weekend

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team (2-2, 0-1 PL) is back on the Hilltop to close out non-conference action against Morgan State during Homecoming weekend on Saturday, October 4. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Cooper Field.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Last Saturday, Georgetown fell 19-10 at Columbia.
  • Jayden Sumpter led the GU ground game with 25 runs for 103 yards and one touchdown.
  • The Hoyas held the Lions scoreless in the third quarter.
  • This season, Jimmy Kibble leads GU receivers with 22 catches for 354 yards and two touchdowns. The senior captain is currently fifth in the GU record book with 1945 career receiving yards and sixth with 12 career receiving touchdowns. 
  • On defense, GianCarlo Rufo leads the Hoyas with 37 tackles (20 solo, 17 assists) while Cooper Blomstrom leads with 2.5 sacks for a loss of 17 yards.
ABOUT THE BEARS
  • Morgan State is coming off of a 24-18 win at Miles College in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • The 2025 Morgan State Bears are under the leadership of fourth-year head coach Damon Wilson. Wilson, the 24th coach in school history, previously served 13 seasons as the head football coach at Bowie State.
  • Jason Collins Jr. leads the Bears ground game with 82 rushes for 353 yards and five touchdowns. 
  • Quarterback Kobe Muasau has played in all five games for the Bears. He has completed 55 of 85 passes and two touchdowns. 
  • On defense, Erick Hunter leads the squad with 41 tackles (12 solo, 29 assists) while Blanche Gold leads with 2.5 sacks for a loss of 19 yards. 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Georgetown and Morgan State will meet for the second time in program history. The Hoyas are 0-1 against the Bears. 
  • The first time the Hoyas squared off with the Bears was on November 20, 2021 at Hughes Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. The Hoyas fell to the Bears 28-21.
