Swimming & Diving Concludes Competition at Potomac Relays

Oct. 3, 2014 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team opened competition on Friday afternoon at the annual Potomac Relays at the Reeves Aquatic Center on the campus of American University.

The Hoya women competed with George Mason, George Washington, Howard, Mary Washington, Mount St. Mary's, Towson and host American, while the men competed with George Mason, George Washington, Howard, Towson and host American at the season-opening relay meet.

The Blue & Gray, who compete in its first dual meet with Delaware on Saturday, received a strong performance from its women's squad, earning second place finishes in the 500 yard freestyle relay, 800 yard freestyle relay, 2x500 yard freestyle relay, 400 yard medley relay and 400 yard medley relay. The earned third place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle relay, 200 yard medley relay, 3x100 yard breaststroke relay and 3x100 yard butterfly relay.

On the men's side, GU got a third place finish in the men's 500 yard freestyle relay, 800 yard freestyle relay, 2x500 yard freestyle relay and the 3x100 yard breaststroke relay.

The Hoyas and Blue Hens will meet on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Rawstrom Natatorium on campus of University of Delaware.
