Daphne Corboz was selected to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Best XI Second Team and was also rated No. 17 in its ratings of the top-100 players in women's college soccer. Rachel Corboz, meanwhile, was ranked No. 8 in the country among all freshmen. Wenger ranked No. 59 nationally among all freshmen.
Georgetown finished the 2014 season ranked No. 24 in the country by the NSCAA, with an 11-5-6 overall record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight year. The Hoyas posted a 6-1-2 record in the BIG EAST and advanced to play in the BIG EAST Tournament Championship game.
The elder Corboz concluded her career on the Hilltop by being named a Second Team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) earlier this month. It was the third All-American honor for Daphne Corboz, who was a second team selection last year and a first team honoree in 2012 after her sophomore year.
Daphne Corboz, who was selected as an NSCAA First Team All-Northeast Region honoree earlier this week, was also named one of 16 semifinalists for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, recognizing the top player in the country. Corboz was named the BIG EAST Conference's Midfielder of the Year and the league's Offensive Player of the Year this season, the first time one player has won both awards in the same season. In addition, she was a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
The senior led Georgetown in scoring with 42 points, scoring a team-high 12 goals and registering a team-high 18 assists. Her 18 assists broke the school single season record of 13, which she set as a junior in 2013. In scoring 42 points, she fell two points off the single-season record of 44 points, which she set as a sophomore in 2012. This year, Corboz led the BIG EAST in scoring, averaging 1.91 points per game, and assists (0.82 per game) and ranked tied for the league lead in goals scored (12). She ranks No. 3 in the country in assists and No. 14 in total points.
Daphne Corboz leaves Georgetown as the all-time leading scorer in program history with 134 points. She is the all-time leader in goals scored with 47 and ranks second all-time in assists with 40.
Rachel Corboz, the younger sister of Daphne, had an impressive first season on the Hilltop, earning All-BIG EAST Second Team and All-BIG EAST Rookie honors. She finished third on the team in scoring with four goals and eight assists for 16 points.
Wenger was a key player on the back line for the Hoyas this season. Inserted into the starting lineup in the fourth game of the year, Wenger started every BIG EAST game and helped the Hoyas rank third during conference games with a 0.74 goals-against average. She helped to anchor a unit that posted 11 shutouts during the 2014 season.
