Georgetown to Play Indiana at Madison Square Garden

Sept. 1, 2014

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Men's Basketball Coach John Thompson III announced today that the Hoyas will play perennial national power Indiana University on Saturday, Dec. 27 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Hoyas and the Hoosiers will tip off at The World's Most Famous Arena at noon and the game will air on ESPN2.

The last time the Hoyas played the Hoosiers was during the 2012-13 season, an 82-72 overtime loss in the second round of the Legends Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

GU and IU have met three times in program history, with the Hoyas trailing the series, 2-1. Georgetown's win was a 60-54 decision during the 1978-79 season.

The game against Indiana is just one of the highlights of the 2014-15 schedule for the Hoyas. GU will open play in the Battle 4 Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas in November against Florida, a tournament that also features North Carolina, UCLA, Butler, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
