WASHINGTON -- Last Saturday, Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson said there were days when the team's upperclassmen would stand out as they did in a thrilling overtime win against Indiana. One week later, it was the Georgetown freshmen who stepped forward, as three scored in double figures to lead the 25th-ranked Hoyas to a 76-61 win over Creighton in front of 11,164 fans at Verizon Center Saturday afternoon.
It was the team's fourth win in the last five games and fifth in the last seven as Georgetown improved to 9-4 overall and 1-1 in the BIG EAST, while Creighton falls to 9-6 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Four of Georgetown's freshmen - guard Tre Campbell (Washington, D.C./St. Joh's College HS [Md.]), forward Isaac Copeland (Raleigh, N.C./Brewster Academy [N.H.]), forward L.J. Peak (Gaffney, S.C./Gaffney) and forward Paul White (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) - combined for 39 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Campbell came off the bench and provided a spark at the end of the first half, finishing with 13 points and two assists in a career-high 26 minutes. Peak scored 14 points, had four rebounds and three steals, while White added 10 points, four rebounds and two assists and Copeland chipped in two points and one rebound.

Georgetown shot 75.0 percent in the second half (15-of-20) and went on to lead by as many as 18 at 71-53 after two free throws from senior center Joshua Smith (Kent, Wash./Kentwood/UCLA) with 2:51 remaining in the game.
Smith scored a game-high 16 points to lead five players in double figures, with senior guard Jabril Trawick (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends) scoring 12 points and handing out three assists.
It was a sluggish start to the first half for the Hoyas, who hit only five of their first 16 shots and were trailing by six points, 25-15, with just over seven minutes left to play in the half. A 7-0 run from the Hoyas - started by a jumper from Campbell and then a 3-pointer from junior guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central/Oak Hill) and capped by free throws from Peak - gave GU its first lead, 22-21.
Creighton countered with an 8-2 spurt to take a 29-24 lead after jumpers from Zach Hanson and Isaiah Zierden and free throws from Devin Brooks, but the Hoyas closed out the half with a 9-2 run, taking a 33-31 lead after a jumper from Copeland with five seconds left.
