WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's track & field team is ranked No. 10 in the preseason rankings released by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday. The USTFCCCA utilizes a computer system for national team rankings, compiled by mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists and data taken from previous seasons.

The Hoya women are one of two BIG EAST institutions to be ranked among the top 10 with Providence coming in at No. 8 and the Blue & Gray tabbed 10th.

The women's team is bolstered by the 2014 performance of the distance medley relay (DMR), a record-setting time from the Hoyas that set a new school, meet and a facility record at the historic New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in New York City. The foursome of All-Americans Hannah Neczypor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton), Emma Keenan (Gwynned Valley, Pa./Gwynned-Mercy Academy), Andrea Keklak (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury/Princeton) and Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy) clocked in at 10:55.63 over the 4,000-meter race (1,200m/400m/800m/1,600m), breaking the previous record from 2012.

Georgetown will rely heavily on the individual performances of returning All-Americans Keklak, Coogan and Sabrina Southerland (New York, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo). Keklak and Southerland were strong in the 800-meter run during the 2014 season with Coogan excelling in the 3,000-meter run for the second-consecutive year.

The full breakout of the computer rankings had the men's team tabbed at No. 38 behind strong performances last season from All-Americans Ahmed Bile (Annandale, Va./Annandale), Billy Ledder (Washington, D.C./Gonzaga) and Ryan Manahan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus), all in the 800-meter run.

The men's and women's teams will return to competition on Saturday, January 10 with the Father Diamond Invitational, hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
