WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Georgetown University men's and women's swimming & diving team fell to William & Mary on Friday evening at the W&M Rec Center, as the women lost, 152-53, and the men were defeated by the Tribe, 170-35.
The Hoya got off to a quick start as the women's 400-yard medley relay team of Katie Duncalf (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley), sophomore Haley Owens (Placerville, Calif./El Dorado), freshman Laine Morgan (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades School) and sophomore Bailey Page (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood) won the first event of the meet with a time of 3:55.53, earning 11 points for GU. Each of the four would go on to score individual points for the Blue & Gray during the meet.
Morgan came back in the ninth event of the meet, the women's 200-yard individual medley, earning GU's first individual victory of the meet, finishing with a time of 2:07.14.
Duncalf finished second in the women's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.93. Owens earned a second-place finish in the women's 200-yard breaststroke in 2:24.13 and Page finished third in the women's 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.21.
On the men's side, freshman Jacob Kohlhoff (Tega Clay, N.C./Fort Mill) earned a third-place finish in the men's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.48. Junior Martin Vanin (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Bolivar) finished close behind in fourth with a time of 48.71.
GU took third and fourth-place in the 500-yard freestyle, as junior Evan Grey (Williston, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) recorded a time of 4:51.75 to earn three points. Senior Austin Evenson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Pine Crest School) was less than two-tenths of a second behind with a time of 4:51.92.
The Hoyas return to action on Saturday when they travel south to take on Davidson College at 1 p.m.
