WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's soccer player Melissa Downey (McLean, Va./McLean/Princeton) was selected to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday.

Downey and Georgetown went 1-0-1 in a pair of games last week, beating Seton Hall, 4-0, at home on Thursday, and following that up with a 1-1 double overtime draw at DePaul on Sunday.

The Hoyas are now 10-5-2 overall and 5-1-2 in the BIG EAST, tied for second with DePaul and just points behind league-leading St. John's with one conference game left to play.

Downey, a graduate student who transferred to Georgetown this season, started for the first time on Thursday against Seton Hall and scored three goals, her first career hat trick. Downey's first goal gave the Hoyas a 1-0 lead just before halftime and she proceeded to score two more goals in the second half.

Georgetown hosts BIG EAST Conference foe Creighton on Friday, Oct. 30 at Shaw Field.
