DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Georgetown University swimming & diving team was swept by the Davidson College Wildcats on Saturday afternoon, as the women fell, 166-132, while the men were defeated, 171-127 at the Charles A. Cannon Pool.
Freshman Jacob Kohlhoff (Tega Clay, N.C./Fort Mill) earned the Hoyas' first victory in the sixth event, the men's 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:43.88. Late in the meet, Kohlhoff finished second in the men's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:49.55.
Martin Vanin (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Bolivar) won the men's 100-yard butterfly by over one second, finishing with a time of 51.71.
On the women's side sophomore Katie Duncalf (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) earned a victory in the women's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.84. Duncalf also won the 200-yard backstroke, by just under three seconds, finishing in 2:06.63.
Senior Erica Fabbri (Yardley, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) and sophomore Bailey Page (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood) captured the top two spots in the women's 50-yard freestyle, as Fabbri won with a time of 24.29. Page was close behind, finishing in 24.49.
Freshman Laine Morgan (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades School) outraced the field in the women's 100-yard butterfly, winning with a time of 57.21, more than two seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Morgan also won the women's 100-yard IM, finishing in 1:00.23.
Senior diver Sarah Jaklitsch (Hingham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 245.17. She also won the three-meter diving competition scoring 243.60 points. Junior Jared Cooper-Vespa (Orange, Conn./The Hopkins School) won the three-meter diving competition with a time of 292.87. Freshman Ryan Blom (Hershey, Pa./Milton Hershey) won the men's one-meter diving competition with a score of 304.57.
