Swimming & Diving Opens Season at Potomac Relays

Final Stats

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming & diving team opened its season at the annual Potomac Relays, as the men's team finished with 88 points, third out of four teams, while the women finished with 80 points, fourth out of for teams, at Bender Arena on the campus of American University.

On the women's side, GU had its best finish of the afternoon when the 3x100 yard butterfly trio of senior Erica Fabbri (Yardley, Pa./Villa Marie Joseph), junior Anna Buttaci (Broussard, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) and freshman Laine Morgan (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades School) finished in second place with a time of 2:58.28.

On the men's side, GU earned three second place finishes. Junior Martin Vanin (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Bolivar), junior Will Leach (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central), freshman Henry Rogatz (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) and freshman Jacob Kohlhoff (Tega Clay, N.C./Fort Mill) took second in the 500 yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:13.03.

Sophomore Dan Ross (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township), Rogatz, sophomore Chandler Hinson (Chattanooga, Tenn./The Baylor School) and Kohlhoff finished second in the 800 yard freestyle relay in 7:04.39. GU's 3x100 yard butterfly relay team of junior David Chung (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough), freshman Justin Summers (Weston, Conn./Weston) and Vanin finished second in 2:35.06.

In the women's diving competition junior Sarah Jaklitsch (Hingham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) finished second in the one meter and three meter diving competitions with 219 and 225 points, respectively. On the men's side freshman Ryan Blom (Hershey, Pa./Milton Hershey) won the one-meter competition with 270 points, while junior Jared Cooper-Vespa (Orange, Conn./The Hopkins School) earned a first place finish in the three-meter diving competition with 282.60.

The Hoyas travel to Newark, Del. to take on University of Delaware in their first dual meet of the 2015-16 season on Saturday, October 3.
