Feb. 6, 2015 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team heads to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers and Providence on Saturday afternoon in the final meet of the regular season. The first event, the women's 200-yard medley relay, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
The Hoyas will compete at the Rutgers Aquatic Center for the second time this season before beginning final preparations for the BIG EAST Championship.
The Blue & Gray enter Saturday's meet following a strong performance at Drexel on Saturday, January 24. Junior Erica Fabbri (Yardley, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie), freshman Madeleine Quinn (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) and sophomore diver Jared Cooper-Vespa(Orange, Conn./The Hopkins School) each won two events apiece.
Freshman Christine Ryan (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) won the 500-yard freestyle and junior Lauren Ward (Marietta, Ga./Blessed Trinity Catholic) won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.82. On the men's side junior Austin Evenson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Pine Crest School) earned a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle, freshman Daniel Ross (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) won the 200-yard freestyle and freshman Chase Ladman (San Marcos, Calif.) won the 500-yard freestyle.
Georgetown competed at Rutgers in a meet with the Scarlet Knights and BIG EAST opponents Seton Hall and Villanova in November.
