March 20, 2015 WASHINGTON - The Hoyas will finally be able to take their true home field this weekend when they welcome the Villanova Wildcats for a three-game weekend series. The games are the first BIG EAST matchups for both teams.

The second-game victory was the first in the circle for freshman Avery Geehr (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra), who is now 1-6 on the season.
GU is looking to string together consecutive wins for the first time since Valentine's Day over the weekend. The Feb. 14 wins were over Saint Joseph's and UNC Wilmington at the Landfall Park Hampton Inn and Suites Invitational in Wilmington, N.C.
"We played okay in game two (versus Princeton) and thankfully we were able to come away with the win," said Head Coach Pat Conlan. "Overall we're doing some good things, we're just not doing them consistently for a whole game."
The Hoyas have continued to receive consistent production from both Alessandra and Sophia Gargicevich-Almeida (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King), Samantha Giovanniello (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial), Megan Hyson (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and Theresa Kane (Mystic, Conn./Stonington).

Over 24 games, the aforementioned athletes are all hitting above .250 and together they are responsible for 104 of the team's 164 hits. They have also combined for 71 of the 93 runs scored.
In the circle, the Hoyas have gotten quality innings from three pitchers, with Hyson getting the majority of the starts. Her record sits at 8-5 and she has amassed an ERA of 1.92 over 84.0 innings. Hyson is currently first in the BIG EAST in strikeouts with 95.
This weekend, Georgetown is welcoming a Villanova team that sits at 7-11 overall. The Wildcats went 1-2 at the Delaware Invitational last weekend, dropping games against Saint Francis (Pa.), 3-1, and Delaware State, 2-0, before defeating Delaware 7-2.
Sierra McConnell leads the Wildcats with a batting average of .326 to go with her 15 hits and five RBI. In the circle, Brette Lawrence leads all pitchers with an ERA of 1.51. She has 28 strikeouts over 27.2 innings of work.
This is the 14th meeting between the two schools, with Georgetown holding a 9-4 series lead thanks to wins by the Blue & Gray in the last six meetings.
"We'll continue to tweak some things in practice," said Conlan. "We've had to deal with the weather and being away these last couple of weeks, but that's what we need is good practices and we'll be better. We're really looking forward to our BIG EAST play."
