WASHINGTON - The members of the Georgetown Women's Basketball team took to Twitter on Friday to participate in First Lady Michelle Obama's #GimmeFive campaign. The team put together the viral video as a lead up to volunteering at the 137th annual White House Easter Egg Roll.
As part of the fifth anniversary of Let's Move!, the First Lady is encouraging Americans across the country to give out high-fives for healthy choices. She also challenged Americans to #GimmeFive things they are doing to eat better, be more active, and lead a healthier life.
Athletes and celebrities have taken to Twitter to give their five, and the First Lady even performed a dance to celebrate it on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The video features members of the squad giving five things they like to do to stay healthy and concludes with the same dance the First Lady performed to Uptown Funk.
The #GimmeFive campaign will reach its pinnacle at the 137th annual White House Easter Egg Roll on April 6. This year's theme is "#GimmeFive," and more than 35,000 people will gather on the South Lawn to join in the celebrations. Keeping history alive, the event will feature sports and fitness zones, cooking demonstrations, and Easter classics such as the egg roll and egg hunt, live music and storytelling. In addition to all of the fun, the day's activities will encourage children to lead healthy, active lives in support of the First Lady's Let's Move! initiative.
The team will be on hand to volunteer in the fitness zones and participate in a number of special events throughout the day.
Hoya fans can view the video on the GU Twitter feed and are encouraged to share it and give their own five healthy choices.
