April 13, 2015 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Women's Basketball Coach Natasha Adair received the "Standard of Living" 2015 Community Award presented by the 2015 Escalade by Cadillac on Sunday at a black tie event held at Capitol Cadillac in Greenbelt, Md. She was one of 15 honorees at the event that included athletes, entertainers and community leaders.
"It was a memorable night with difference makers in the community," said Adair. "I'm grateful to Kappstone Media, Nai Michael, Capitol Cadillac and Delegate Barnes for honoring me with such a prestigious award."
Adair was nominated by Maryland State Delegate Darryl Barnes in recognition of her exemplary work ethic and performance as well as her commitment and dedication to the community. The event honored leaders within the community in many different categories. The goal was to bring the community together to highlight the accomplishments of its leaders.
The entire women's basketball team had an opportunity to attend the event and watch Adair receive her award. They also had the opportunity to meet some of the other honorees including DeSean Jackson of the Washington Redskins, Joe Haden of the Cleveland Browns, recording artists Johnny Gill and Jessica Reedy, DJ Frank Ski and publicist Kita Williams.
Each honoree had a tie back to the Prince George's County region and was honored for what they have done to impact the local community and beyond.
This was Adair's first year at the helm for the Blue & Gray, but she is no stranger to Georgetown after serving as an assistant coach for the Hoyas for six seasons. The Silver Spring, Md., native was an All-American at Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, Md. She was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in November 2011.
