April 17, 2015 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown track & field team sent a small contingent of student-athletes to Walnut, Calif., for the Mt. SAC Relays, a premiere track & field event especially for distance events. Jonathan Green (Berlin, Mass./St. John's High School) highlighted Thursday night's events with a fourth-place showing in the A invitational section of the men's 10,000-meter run.
Green finished fourth in his section of the 10,000-meter run with a time of 29:06.52. That time ranks among the top 10 times recorded in the East this year and is the seventh-best time in Georgetown history. Green's time is sandwiched on GU's all-time list between recent distance standout Mike Krisch (28:58.48) and former BIG EAST cross country champion Brook Kintz (29:16.54).
In the B division of the 10,000-meter invitational, a trio of Hoyas competed with Brian King (Sonoma, Calif./Cardinal Newman) and John Murray (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) finishing fifth (29:46.66) and sixth (29:46.97), respectively. Stephen Kersh (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Prep/University of Portland) finished 21st, clocking 30:26.39.
The Hoyas will continue competition this weekend at the Virginia Challenge, held in Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18.
