Women's Tennis Announces Team Awards at Annual Banquet

May 4, 2015

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown women's tennis team hosted its annual end of season banquet to celebrate the 2014-2015 season and announce team award winners. Head Coach Gordie Ernst presented the top honors.

Victoire Saperstein (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School) was named the Most Valuable Player for the second-straight year. The sophomore, who was an All-BIG EAST selection last season, led the way for Georgetown with a record of 12-4 that included a mark of 10-1 from the No. 1 singles spot. Prior to GU's season-ending loss at the hands of Marquette at the 2015 BIG EAST Women's Tennis Championships, Saperstein posted an eight-match win streak that included victories over Navy, Penn, Villanova and UMBC. Saperstein was .500 in doubles play with a record of 7-7.

Sophomore Madeline Foley (Salt Lake City, Utah/Rowland Hall St. Marks) received the Coaches Award for her dedication to the program. Foley posted a victory against Villanova on April 11, defeating Linley Busby in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. She was paired with Liselot Koenen (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) on Jan. 23 when they defeated Norfolk State.

The Hoyas posted a record of 11-5 and a mark of 2-2 in conference play. Over the course of the 2014-15 campaign Georgetown posted win streaks of two, four and three matches.
