June 18, 2015 WASHINGTON - The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) has selected its 2014-15 award winners and Georgetown University was among the honorees. The Hoyas were honored for the men's basketball Student-for-a-Day package receiving the Gold in Group I for Single-Day Attendance Promotion.
The Student-for-a-Day package included a seat in the Georgetown student section, a "We Are Georgetown" t-shirt, a campus map and lanyard, a pamphlet with instructions on how to cheer like a Hoya fan, a "We Are Georgetown" cheer card and an honorary 'Student of Georgetown Basketball' Degree presented by Jack the Bulldog during the game.
It was available through LivingSocial for the January 3 home game against Creighton University during GU's holiday break.
The promotion generated national interest and increased both attendance and revenue for the Hoyas during a game when most students are not on campus.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Best of Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 13 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. Nearly 1,000 entries were received for the 2014-15 year.
Georgetown is a part of Group I which includes all BCS schools as well as a select number of other large institutions.
The winners were recognized during NACMA's 24th Annual Convention at the awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 16 in Orlando, Florida.
