June 24, 2015 WASHINGTON - Four Hoya sailors were named Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) 2014-15 All-Americans following an online awards show on Tuesday evening. Of the 53 sailors from 17 schools to be named All-American, Georgetown tallied four honors, a feat bested by only three other schools (Boston College - 8, Yale - 8, College of Charleston - 5).
Nevin Snow (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic), already awarded the Everett B. Morris Memorial Trophy for the Marlow Ropes College Sailor of the Year, was named an ICSA Coed All-American Skipper. This is Snow's third-consecutive year earning All-America honors. Snow is the fifth Hoya to be named the College Sailor of the Year and it is the sixth nod in the last 10 years as Andrew Campbell earned the honor in 2006, Chris Behm in 2008, Charlie Buckingham in 2009 and 2011, Chris Barnard in 2012 and Snow in 2015.
Katia DaSilva (East Greenwich, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey) earns her second All-America accolade as she was named an ICSA Crew All-American along with Isabelle Luzuriaga (Charleston, S.C./Ashley Hall). DaSilva previously earned the distinction in 2014. This is Luzuriaga's first honor.
Nancy Hagood (Charleston, S.C./Ashley Hall) was named an Honorable Mention Women's All-American. This is her second honor as she was named an ICSA Women's All-American in 2013.
Earlier this season, Georgetown was second in line for the Leonard M. Fowl Trophy for best overall collegiate team, falling shy to the College of Charleston. The team with the most Fowle points, compiled results of the ICSA Women's Singlehanded, Men's Singlehanded, Match Racing, Coed Semi-Finals, Women's, Team Racing, and Coed National Championships, determines the Fowle trophy.
