Aug. 12, 2015 WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men’s basketball team will play Wisconsin in one of two semifinals of the 21st Annual 2K Classic benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project on Friday, Nov. 20 at Madison Square Garden, the World’s Most Famous Arena.
The Hoyas and the Badgers, who were the national runner-ups in 2015, will play in the first of two semifinal games on Friday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. The game will be shown live on ESPN2. The second semifinal game will feature VCU and Duke.
The winner of the two semifinal games will play in the 2K Classic Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 22 on ESPN. The consolation game will air on ESPN2.
Georgetown will play a pair of regional round games in the 2K Classic, first against Radford on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Verizon Center. The Hoyas will also host Bryant on Saturday, Nov. 28.
The matchup with Wisconsin will be a rematch from the 2014-15 season, when the teams met in the second round of the Battle 4 Atlantis. Rising senior guard D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central/Oak Hill) scored 29 points in the 68-65 loss to the Badgers. That was the first meeting ever between the teams.
Tickets for the 2K Classic are now available to current donors to Georgetown Athletics at the $50 level and above (those who have made a gift of $50 or more on after July 1, 2014) as well as men’s basketball plan-holders (2014-15 season ticket and mini-plan holders and 2015-16 season ticket holders).
Tickets for Friday and Sunday are sold separately; tickets for each day include admission to both games of the doubleheader. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit WeAreGeorgetown.com/2KClassic or call the Georgetown Athletics Ticket Office at 202-687-4692.
