Chelsey Broermann Named Georgetown Softball Assistant Coach

Sept. 2, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown Softball Head Coach Pat Conlan announced the hiring of Assistant Coach Chelsey Broermann on Wednesday.

"I am thrilled to welcome Chelsey to the Hilltop," Conlan said. "I am extremely impressed by her knowledge, enthusiasm and experience and she will be instrumental as we continue to build on previous program successes."

Broermann comes to Georgetown from Grand Canyon University (GCU), where she served as an assistant coach from 2014-15. Leading the team's training and skill development, Broermann helped the Lopes improve their batting average from .294 to .335.

Overall, GCU compiled a 28-22 record including a 9-6 league finish and a second-place standing in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular season. The team's 2015 performance also placed seven student-athletes on the All-WAC postseason teams.

"I am super excited about the opportunity to be here at Georgetown," Broermann said. "It's a thrilling new challenge and I look forward to chasing a championship with Coach Conlan."

Prior to GCU, Broermann served as a graduate assistant for the Arizona State softball team from 2010-12 and later became the director of softball operations. Broermann helped guide ASU to a PAC-12 Championship in 2011 and three College World Series appearances, including a National Championship in 2011. Prior to her time at ASU, Broermann spent one season playing at Azusa Pacific University.

She also had a coaching stint with the Birmingham Thunderbolts, where she worked specifically with the pitchers and catchers.

Broermann graduated from Arizona State with a bachelor's degree in communication in 2010 and earned a master's degree in communication in 2013.
