Georgetown Finishes 13th at Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's golf team finished the three-round Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic in 13th place. The Hoyas carded a 9-over par 289 on the day, their best round of the tournament, leaving them at 36-over par 873 for the tournament.

Junior Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) led the way on Tuesday, carding a 4-under par 66, leaving him tied for 6th at even-par 210. Junior Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons, [Fla.]) carded a 4-over 74 on the day, leaving him at 10-over par 220 and tied for 53rd overall. Freshman Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River Community) finished tied for 67th at 14-over par 224. Freshman Hardin Councill (High Point, N.C./Westchester Country Day) finished tied for 72nd overall at 15-over par 225. Junior Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean), finished in 76th at 17-over par 227 for the tournament.

UTEP was the overall winner finishing at 5-under par 835. Host Notre Dame finished in second at 4-under par 836 and Ball State finished in third at 9-over par 849. Eastern Michigan remained in fourth place at 11-over par 851. Illinois State rounded out the top five at 14-over par 854. The individual winner was Blake Barens of Notre Dame at 9-under par 201 overall. He was the leader at the end of each of the three rounds.

Georgetown returns to action on October 17 when it hosts the Georgetown Intercollegiate.
