Blake Tabbed BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week

WASHINGTON – Georgetown's Barnes Blake was named the BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office in New York on Wednesday. The award comes after the junior's first-place finish at the 41st Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate in Westfield, New Jersey. Blake has now earned the award for the second week in a row

Barnes Blake | Jr. | Westfield, New Jersey

  • Blake led the way for the Blue & Gray with a standout performance at the rain-shortened 36-hole Georgetown Intercollegiate, capturing the first individual title of his collegiate career in dramatic fashion.
  • After opening with a 76 in the first round, the Westfield, New Jersey native, surged back with a remarkable 67, the lowest score in the entire field over both days, to secure the victory. The title came down to the wire, decided on the 18th hole of the final round and ultimately settled in a match of cards tiebreaker that Blake emerged victorious in.
  • The Hoyas won the team title at the event by seven strokes
  • This is Blake's second BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week honor.
