Oct. 4, 2016 WASHINGTON - After two rounds of the Firestone Invitational on the par-72, 7,125-yard Firestone Country Club Georgetown University men's golf team is in 16 place at 20-over par 596. The Hoyas began the day with a 12-over par 300 and produced an 8-over par 296 in the second round.
Illinois State is currently in first after posting a 14-under 562 on the day. Right behind in second is host Akron at 12-under 564, with Cincinnati and Dayton sitting behind them in tie for third at 9-under 567. Eastern Michigan rounds out the top five at 8-under 568. The individual leader after 36 holes is Austin Squires of Cincinnati at 7-under 137
Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) led the way for Gerorgetown carding an even par 144 on the day placing him in a tie for 29 overall. Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) was right behind him at 1-over par 145 good for a tie in 32. Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons[Fla.]), and Anthony Perrino (Concord, N.C./The Canon School) are in a tie for 81 at 13-over 157. Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River Community) finished the day in a tie for 66 at 8-over 152.
Day 2 of the Firestone Invitation continues on Tuesday, with the Hoyas teeing off at 8:39 am ET.
