Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III
On the team's pressure...

"In spurts, different time, I think we have to be significantly better in the half-court, after they get across. We weren't a solid as we need to be there and make their life more difficult there but overall it was effective

On difference between this year's opener and last years...
The result is obviously the biggest difference. To be honest I haven't really looked at that game in a while, so beyond the obvious winning this game and losing that one I don't remember too many of the nuances from that game.

On his sense of this team compared to last year...
We are, and you've heard me say this once or twice before, a much different team, dramatically different between this year and last. In terms of our athleticism and depth. If we can stay injury free this will be a much different look and feel.

On Jagan Mosely...
He's fine, first game freshman, he's poised, very poised and if you at it how it relates to steals, deflections, and rebounds, hustle plays he makes a lot of hustle plays. For the most part, I haven't looked at the line yet but he makes passes and doesn't turn the ball over. Six assists and zero turnovers, he does a lot of things that show up in the box score and some that don't but he is very poised.

On the team's rebounding...
Yep, we have to do a better job, a much better job. 20 offensive rebounds, that's unacceptable. Coach to Rodney? "One" Not acceptable

Graduate Transfer Guard Rodney Pryor
On his aggressiveness...

Natural progression of the game, my team needs me to be aggressive on the offensive end, just look at the basket and seeing if I have a good look. If not, then get other people the ball.

Junior Guard L.J. Peak On starting compared to coming off the bench...
It felt the same. Just got to come out and play hard.

On the team's pressure defensively...
You know, we have a lot of energy, and we'll use our athleticism and pressure the ball a lot more.

On the start to the game...
Answer from LJ: It got us going, we started the game off right with a lot of pressure and they just couldn't handle it.

USC Upstate Head Coach Eddie Payne
Opening Statements: It's hard to evaluate Georgetown because I don't think we played our best, but their style of play is going to be an interesting thing to watch as they get into playing better and longer opponents with better guard to play. It's hard to say exactly how to guage it from Georgetown's perspective. It made a huge difference during the start of this game, it really threw us back and then we really kind of caved after that. From our perspective there is not a ton to talk about because I didn't think we did a ton well. They shot the ball extremely well, they made shots. The left-handed kid was very good, and a couple of his were pretty well contested. When you have someone who can shoot from the wing like that it's going to make a huge difference for that team and he has a lot of length to be able to shoot over people. So that bodes well for them for the rest of the season.

On comparing the Georgetown to what they saw on tape:
"Up close and personal they look very impressive, they are big and long and all over the court. When I walked in and saw them warming up I thought wow this is really a good airport team. It proved to be the case, they have a lot of kids that can go to the glass and length to keep rebounds alive. It seemed to me that they had a lot more than 8 offensive rebounds. The stat for us was that they got 42 points off turnovers."

On strategy early on regarding Georgetown pressure:
"A couple things I told them to do, they didn't really do you know. Don't short side the first pass. I raised hell about that, you can talk about that all you want and I knew that. We had a few guys that just froze, the guy with the ball has gotta slide and next thing you know they're in a trap. That one thing was disappointing, that one thing right there cost us 10-12 points. But you're right we didn't know exactly how they were going to do it. The trap was what caused most of the problems, not the crashing afterwards. After we broke trap we were able to get something going. But we ourselves in a bad position right away.
