March 2, 2016

WASHINGTON - Sophomore guard Dorothy Adomako (Midlothian, Va./Cosby) and freshman guard Dionna White (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) of the Georgetown women's basketball team were both named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, as announced by the conference on Wednesday. White was also a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. The all-conference teams were selected by a vote of the league's head coaches.

Adomako earns second team honors after being named Freshman of the Year last season as well being selected to the All-Rookie Team and Honorable Mention All-BIG EAST. The sophomore is also second on the squad in blocks (29), made field goals (132), made free throws (68), free throw percentage (.773) and minutes played (30.9 mpg) while ranking third in assists (30) and steals (22). After missing three games in February, Adomako returned to average 16.3 ppg and 8.3 rpg over the final four games, including a 20-point, 14-rebound performance against Xavier in the regular season finale. Overall, Adomako had nine games with at least 18 points and four with at least 20.

White is leading the Hoyas in scoring with 15.6 ppg and has posted team highs of 4.2 apg and 2.6 spg and is second on the squad with 6.2 rpg. She is among the BIG EAST leaders in all four categories, ranking first in steals, fifth in assists, sixth in scoring and 12th in rebounds. The freshman also leads Georgetown in made field goals (153), made free throws (82), free throw percentage (.804) and minutes played (31.7 mpg). She is second with 22 3-pointers on the season and fourth with a .410 field goal percentage. White scored in double figures in all but 22 games this season and had four games with at least 20 points. She leads the team with three double-doubles and was selected as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on five separate occasions and also earned two nods to the weekly honor roll.

Adomako and White have helped Georgetown achieve one of the top turnarounds in Division I this season, increasing its win total by 12 thus far, the third-most in the country. Of the nine programs with a win total of at least 11 this year, Georgetown is the only school with a strength of schedule in the top 100.

The Blue & Gray earned the No. 5 seed at the 2016 BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament, presented by the Jeep Brand. The Hoyas, who earned their first BIG EAST Tournament bye since 2012, will face No. 4 St. John's University in a quarterfinal matchup on Sunday, March 6 at 9:30 p.m. ET at DePaul's McGrath-Phillips Arena in Chicago.
