WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's soccer players Grace Damaska (Milton, Ga./Blessed Trinity) and Elizabeth Wenger (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) were both named BIG EAST Players of the Week on Monday. Damaska earned the offensive player of the week honor, while Wenger took home the defensive award.

The Hoyas won a pair of weekend games, beating Delaware on Thursday, 4-0, and posting a 4-1 win over Colorado College on Sunday to improve to 3-1-0 overall.

Damaska provided most of the offense over the weekend. The senior forward recorded a hat trick in the win over Delaware, scoring a goal in the first half and two more in the second half. It was the second hat trick of her career, the first coming against Butler in 2014 when she was a sophomore.

On Sunday, after Colorado College crept to within 2-1, Damaska scored a pair of goals in the second half to seal the win for the Hoyas. It was the fifth multi-goal of her career for Damaska, who has scored 20 career goals.

Through four games, Damaska is second on the team in scoring with six goals for 12 points. She leads the BIG EAST Conference in goals scored and ranks seventh in the country in goals per game (1.5) and 15th in the country in points per game (3.0).

Wenger earns the first Defensive Player of the Week award for her career after leading a defensive unit that limited opponents to only seven shots during the wins over Delaware and Colorado College. She helped the Hoyas post their second shutout of the season in the 4-0 win over the Blue Hens and assisted on a goal in the second half during the 4-1 win on Sunday. Wenger, an All-BIG EAST Second Team pick last year, has played every minute so far this season.

The Hoyas hit the road this week for their first game away from home, traveling to play at Rutgers on Friday, Sept. 2. Kickoff at Yurcak Field is slated for 7 p.m.
