WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming & diving team began a stretch of three meets in four days when it competed against George Washington and Bowling Green on Friday afternoon at GW's Charles E. Smith Center. The Hoya men fell to the Colonials, 188.5-105.5, while the women's squad lost to both GW, 158-126, and the Falcons, 182-103.
Terry Johnson (Carmichael, Calif./Jesuit) came away with a win in the 200-yard butterfly, outstretching his opponent by nearly a full second with a time of 1:54.97. Jared Cooper-Vespa (Orange, Conn./The Hopkins School) was also victorious in the 3-meter dive with a score of 285.85.
On the women's side, Katie Duncalf (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:03.76 while Molly Fitzpatrick (Manchester, N.H./The Derryfield School) touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.81.
The Hoyas return home to McCarthy Pool on Saturday, January 14 when they host American University. Georgetown will recognize its 11 seniors in a Senior Day ceremony.
