Jan. 27, 2017 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team (12-7, 4-5 BIG EAST) will Villanova University (11-9, 6-3) in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Ben Gordon-Goldstein and Monika Moore calling the action.
On Monday, sophomore guard Dionna White (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after helping the Hoyas to a 2-0 week in conference play.
White led the way in a 69-64 road win at Xavier and a 58-52 victory at Butler last week. She totaled 12 points, eight rebounds and five steals in an overtime victory over the Musketeers before scoring a career-high 29 points off 11-of-18 shooting in Sunday's victory over Butler. She added eight boards and five steals against the Bulldogs.
White leads the Hoyas with 15.9 ppg, as well as 5.2 rpg, and also has a team-high 66 steals on the year, which ranks first in the conference and eighth in the country. Her 3.7 spg also leads the league and ranks seventh in the nation. The sophomore is also shooting .815 (44-of-54) from the line to sit at fourth in the league. Junior guard Dorothy Adomako (Midlothian, Va./Cosby) is second with 14.7 ppg. She is also pulling in 7.2 rpg to rank second on the squad. Senior forward Faith Woodard (Brandon, Fla./Freedom) rounds out those in double figures with 14.4 ppg on the year. She is averaging a team-high 8.3 rpg, and she also has a squad-best 28 blocks on the year.
The Hoyas are shooting 39.1 percent on the season, and hold a +3.3 advantage in rebounding margin over opponents. The team is also averaging 9.6 steals per game.
Villanova is led in scoring by sophomore guard Adrianna Hahn, who is averaging 14.4 points per contest. Junior guard Alex Louin is second in scoring at 12.7 points per contest, and Megan Quinn leads the team in rebounding with a team-best 6.2 rebounds per contest. This will be the fourth-straight game on the road for the Wildcats. Villanova began the stretch at Penn on Wednesday, Jan. 18, with a 60-48 win. Villanova is currently 5-2 in road games this season.
Georgetown is 20-40 all-time against the Wildcats, and 12-14 at home. Earlier this season, Georgetown fell, 71-50, on the road in Pennsylvania. In the last meeting at McDonough Arena a season ago, the Hoyas lost, 63-60, as the Wildcats used a late run to get the win. Adomako scored 24 in the game and White had 18. Both pulled in seven rebounds to lead the Blue & Gray.
