WASHINGTON - Sophomore Amanda Carolan (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) scored four goals, including three in a 2:46 span in the first half and the No. 12 Georgetown University women's soccer team rolled to a 5-0 win at Villanova on Sunday in a BIG EAST Conference matchup. With the win, the Hoyas extended their unbeaten streak to nine-consecutive games and improve to 10-2-2 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play. The Wildcats fall to 6-8 on the season, and 2-3 in BIG EAST action.

"This was a great rebound performance after Thursday's game," said Georgetown Head Coach Dave Nolan. "The girls were determined to play well and come out strong and they did. We had a great overall team effort, but it was great to see Amanda Carolan score four goals. It should give her great confidence moving forward. Now its on to Providence next Sunday."

Carolan becomes the first Hoya to ever score four goals in a game since Daphne Corboz scored five in a win over Pittsburgh in 2012. Senior Rachel Corboz (Green Brook, N.J./Pingry) had three assists, giving her 101 career points. She is the third player in program history to reach 100 career points, trailing only Ingrid Wells and her sister, Daphne Corboz. In the goal, junior Arielle Schechtman (Del Mar, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) did not have to make a save for her 11th shutout of the season.

Georgetown dominated possession for the first 30 minutes, but only managed one shot as a Corbez blast from the top of the box went just over the crossbar.

In the 34th minute, Corboz slipped a ball through the defense and Carolan easily chipped it past the keeper.

Just 33 seconds later, Corboz found junior Caitlin Farrell (Wallingford, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) from midfield, who took the pass on the right side of the box and crossed it to an open Carolan inside the six-yard box. Carolan finished it easily with one touch to give the Hoyas a 2-0 lead.

Two minutes later, freshman Jenna Menta (Lincolndale, N.Y./Somers) dribbled down the right sideline and sent a high service ball across the front of the goal. Carolan went up into the air and headed it home to put GU up, 3-0, with nine minutes left before halftime.

Sophomore Meghan Nally (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) had two opportunities from point-blank range in the final minutes of the half but Villanova keeper, Emily Harris (4 saves), came up with the saves as the Hoyas took a 3-0 lead into the break.

In the 73rd minute, Farrell crossed a ball from the goal line on the right side that a Villanova defender mishit on a clear attempt, putting it into the back of the net for an own goal and giving the Blue & Gray a 4-0 advantage.

Carolan completed the scoring in the 79th minute as she finished a great cross from sophomore Carson Nizialek (Chantilly, Va./Freedom), who had taken a pass from Corboz on the left side of the box.

The Hoyas outshot Villanova, 15-4, overall and had nine shots on goal to zero for the Wildcats. GU was also awarded four corner kicks to just one for Villanova.

Georgetown will remain on the road, playing at Providence on Sunday, October 15. Kickoff against the Friars is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game can be seen on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN).
