Feb. 15, 2017 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women’s soccer team, fresh off the best season in program history, was back on the field this week for the start of its spring season, which includes five competition dates.
The Hoyas finished the 2016 season with a 20-3-3 overall record and reached the NCAA College Cup and won the BIG EAST Tournament Championship for the first time in program history. Georgetown earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and was ranked among the top-10 teams in the nation for much of the season and finished the year ranked No. 3 in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The Blue & Gray set program records for wins (20), shutouts (17) and goals scored (61) this year.
The team will play its first game of the spring on Thursday, March 2, hosting George Mason. The game will be played at Cooper Field on the Georgetown campus at 7 p.m.
That game is followed by three road games, first on Saturday, March 25 at Richmond (4 p.m.). The Hoyas will also play at Navy on Friday, March 31 (7 p.m.) and at Maryland on Tuesday, April 4 (7 p.m.).
The spring season closes with a game against Loyola (Md.) on Saturday, April 22 at Shaw Field. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. and the team’s season-ending banquet will follow.
