WASHINGTON - Georgetown led by 14 points in the first half, fell behind early in the second and took a four-point lead late, but could not hang on as DePaul hit free throws with 0.2 seconds left to beat the Hoyas, 67-65, at Verizon Center Wednesday night.

It was the second-straight loss, and the fourth in the last five games for the Hoyas, who fall to 14-14 overall and 5-10 in the BIG EAST Conference. DePaul improves to 9-19 overall and 2-13 in league play.

Sophomore center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) scored 18 points and had five rebounds to lead the Hoyas, while graduate student guard Rodney Pryor (Evanston, Ill./Notre Dame Prep/Robert Morris) added 14 points and five rebounds and sophomore forward Marcus Derrickson (Bowie, Md./Brewster Academy [N.H.]) chipped in 11 points and two rebounds.

Junior guard L.J. Peak (Gaffney, S.C./Gaffney) had six points and five assists while junior forward Akoy Agau (Omaha, Neb./Omaha Central/Louisville) chipped in seven points and eight rebounds.

Georgetown led by five, 61-56, with 4:54 remaining in the game following a conventional three-point play from Agau. A pair of ties and three lead changes down the stretch highlighted a back-and-forth finish as DePaul's Tre'Darius McCallum converted consecutive layups to knots things up at 65-65 with 29 seconds remaining.

A missed 3-point attempt on GU's final drive gave the Blue Demons the ball with five seconds remaining. Coming out of a timeout, Billy Garrett drew a foul with 0.2 seconds on the clock to go to the line and converted both free throws to seal the win.

The Hoyas trailed at the half (39-36) and fell behind by seven points after consecutive jumpers from Eli Cain gave DePaul a 43-36 lead. Down 47-42 after a jumper from McCallum, the Hoyas used an 8-0 run to take a 50-47 lead on free throws from Peak with 13:48 left.

The Hoyas had jumped on top of DePaul early, taking an 11-3 lead four minutes into the game on a dunk by Peak at the 16:11 mark. The lead grew to 10 points, 18-8, after a 3-pointer from Pryor with 12:32 to play. A 9-3 Georgetown run gave the Hoyas their biggest lead, 27-13, on a 3-pointer from Pryor with 9:06 remaining in the half.

Georgetown still led by 12 points, 34-22, after a pair of free throws from Derrickson, but the Blue Demons used a 17-2 run over the final 4:54 of the frame and took a 39-36 lead at the break. The Hoyas led 36-28, with 3:15 left after a Govan layup, but 11-straight points ended the run as DePaul used a three-point play from Levi Cook to tie the game and a 3-pointer from R.J. Curington making it 39-36.

Georgetown hits the road for a pair of games, starting on Saturday, Feb. 25 when the Hoyas visit St. John's. Tipoff at Madison Square Garden is slated for noon. The game will be shown live on FS1 and can be heard locally on 106.7 FM The Fan.
