Hoyas Fall to George Washington

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team was defeated by George Washington on Thursday by a score of 4-2 on Senior Day. With the loss, GU dropped to 7-12 on the season while GW improved to 15-6.

The Hoyas honored three seniors prior to the match.

"These are three of the greatest characters and team guys I've ever coached," said Georgetown Head Coach Gordie Ernst. "We will all miss them and the spirit, humor and character they brought to Hoya tennis."

The Blue & Gray picked up both their points in singles play. At No. 4 Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel High School) won 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, while at No. 6 Ian Witmer (North Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School) won at No. 6 by a score of 6-7, 6-4, 7-3 in a tiebreak third set.

The Hoyas return to action on Saturday, April 22 when they wrap up regular season play with a match against Villanova. The match starts at noon in Villanova, Pa.
