Georgetown Hosts Women's Sports Foundation

April 3, 2017

WASHINGTON - On Sunday evening, the Georgetown Athletics Department hosted the Women's Sports Foundation for its "Candid Conversations" series. The event, which took place in Georgetown's Thompson Center, was a conversation and workshop with Esther Lofgren, an Olympic champion who has successfully transitioned from sports to a business career.

Lofgren, who won a gold medal with the U.S. Rowing National Team at the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games, shared her personal story with more than 50 female student-athletes to help them understand how lessons learned in athletic competition can translate to success in the workplace.

The event included an interactive workshop designed to teach young women how to shape and tell their stories, determine their career goals and values and discuss how many assets they may take for granted can translate into relevant and practical business skills.

Lofgren's presentation and the dinner were made possible through the generosity of Doug (B'81) and Lisa Jordan and the Women's Sports Foundation.
