The Georgetown University men's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place among 11 teams at the East Carolina Intercollegiate, played at the par-72, 6,708 Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
The Hoyas were tied for sixth after the opening day of play and shot a 23-over par 311 on Tuesday to tie for seventh place with Old Dominion at 50-over par 914.
West Virginia won the tournament, shooting a 31-over par 895, four shots ahead of East Carolina and Western Kentucky, who tied for second place at 35-over par 899. Maryland finished in fourth place at 36-over par 900, Florida Gulf Coast was fifth (40-over par 904) and Coastal Carolina placed sixth (46-over par 910).
Juniors Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) and Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons [Fla.]) led the Hoyas, tying for 17th place with scores of 11-over par 227. Musgrave was tied for third place after 36 holes, but shot an 8-over par 80 in the final found. Madsen carded a 5-over par 77 on Tuesday.
Junior Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) had the team's best round on Tuesday, posting a 3-over par 75 and finished in a tie for 25th place at 13-over par 229.
Freshmen Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River) and Hardin Council (High Point, N.C./Westchester Country Day) tied for 48th place at 19-over par 235.
Georgetown is back in action this weekend, playing in the Princeton Invitational on April 8-9.
