June 28, 2017 WASHINGTON - In about five weeks, the Georgetown University women's soccer team will arrive back on the Hilltop as preseason camp for the 2017 season begins. The Hoyas, coming off their most successful season in program history, welcome eight newcomers to the program.
Over the next two weeks, we'll get a chance to know a bit about the incoming freshmen, starting with Eliza Cochran (Allison Park, Pa./Shady Side). Cochran captained her club team -- the Pittsburgh Riverhouds -- to two United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) National Championships (2013 and 2014). She also led high school team to two Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Championships.
Favorite athlete and why?
latan Ibrahimovic, because he's bold.
If I didn't play soccer, I would:
Play tennis.
What brought you to the Hilltop?
It's a perfect combination of academics and athletics.
What are you most looking forward to at Georgetown?
Meeting new people.
Favorite soccer memory:
When my high school team won our section title against our rival after I scored on a 40-yard free kick.
Favorite summer activity:
Driving around with the roof off and blasting music.
How many siblings do you have?
Four siblings (two sisters, two brothers).
What's your favorite type of music and artist?
I like anything that's not Nickelback, and my favorite is Adele.
Last fun thing you did:
My family went to the Stanley Cup Final hockey games, and the Pens won!!
Biggest fear:
Rats.
If you were stranded on an island, what three things couldn't you live without?
Movies, chocolate and my mom.
Do you have any pets?
We have two dogs, Archie and Finn, and two cats, Willow and Truly.
Favorite food:
Chipotle.
Georgetown advanced to the NCAA College Cup for the first time in program history and lost to eventual national champion Southern California. The Hoyas, seeded No. 2 in their region in the NCAA Tournament, finished the season with a 20-3-3 overall record and won the BIG EAST Tournament Championship for the first time in program history. Georgetown set program records for wins (20), shutouts (17) and goals scored (61).
