Women’s Lightweight Boats finish in Top 10 at Head of the Charles

WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's rowing team continued it's fall season at the Head of the Charles, finishing in the top 10 with both lightweight boats and 14th in the women's club fours event.

"The squad had a strong showing in Boston by finishing in the top half of all entered events," Head Coach Kendall Mulligan said. "Securing bids for the 2019 Head of the Charles is a good step in our growth process. We are proud of how the team handled high winds and rough conditions on Sunday and we look forward to some calmer waters this week back at home. We can't wait to get back this week to prep for the last two races of the fall."

On Saturday, the openweight fours squad competed in the women's club fours event, finishing 14th of 54 boats with a time of 19:37.461. The lead boat from Marist crossed the finish line less than a minute prior with a time of 18:44.285.

In the blustery conditions on Sunday, the women's lightweight fours finished in the middle of the pack, placing eighth of 16 boats. The squad finished with a time of 21:17.284.

Following the fours event, the lightweight eights posted a top five performance, crossing the finish line with a time 18:25.512 and finishing fourth out of nine boats. The Stanford boat finished in first place with a time of 18:02.122.

The Hoyas return to the water on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia.
