WASHINGTON – The No. 4 Georgetown women's soccer team (15-0-2, 8-0 BIG EAST) will close out the regular season on Thursday evening at Xavier in a BIG EAST showdown. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at XU Soccer Complex. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) with Mike Schmaltz calling the action and live stats will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.

The unbeaten Hoyas are on a 14-game winning streak, the longest in the country at the moment. The Blue & Gray shut out Butler 2-0 on Sunday at Shaw Field, clinching the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship title for the second year in a row. Paula Germino-Watnick (Chevy Chase, Md. / Bethesda-Chevy Chase). The Hoyas held the Bulldogs to just eight shots and only two in the second half. With the win, GU recorded its 11th clean sheet of the season.
Senior
Caitlin Farrell (Wallingford, Conn. / Choate Rosemary Hall) leads the Blue & Gray with 32 points from 15 goals and two assists and recorded at least one point in the past 11 games. She has scored three game-winning goals in the past four matches. Carusa follows with 21 points off of seven goals and seven assists. Senior goalkeeper
Arielle Schechtman (Del Mar, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day / UCLA) leads the nation in save percentage (.938) and shutouts this season (11) and ranks second in the country in GAA (.257). Farrell is third in the NCAA in game-winning goals (6), fourth in total goals (15) and SOG per game (2.76), sits fifth in goals per game (.880) and 10th in total points (32). As a team, the Hoyas sit second in the nation in winning percentage (.941), third in save percentage (.920), fourth in GAA (.339) and ninth in shutout percentage (.647).
Georgetown currently leads the BIG EAST Conference standings with a perfect record of 8-0. The Blue & Gray ranks first in the league in multiple categories, including shots (287), points (106), goals (38), assists (31), assists per game (1.76), goals allowed (6), GAA (.34), shutouts (11) and corners (124). Farrell ranks first in several individual categories, including shots (82), shots per game (4.82), points (32), PPG (1.88), goals (15), goals per game (.88) and game-winning goals (6). Carusa is tied for first in the league in assists (7) and assists per game (.41). Additionally, Schechtman ranks first in the BIG EAST in GAA (.26), save percentage (.938) and shutouts this season (11).
On Monday, junior
Meaghan Nally (Herndon, Va. / South Lakes) was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and Schechtman was named to the Weekly Honor Roll. The Blue & Gray has sat in the No. 4 position in the national rankings for the past three weeks and has been ranked among the top 10 for the past eight weeks. The team started the season at No. 22.
The Musketeers are 10-7-1 on the season and 4-3-1 in the BIG EAST. Xavier is coming off of a 1-0 loss to St. John's on Sunday after the Red Storm scored a late goal in the first half to come out on top. XU took 12 corner kicks while the Johnnies did not take any. Samantha Dewey leads the Musketeers with 22 points from eight goals and six assists. Toni Bizzarro has started 16 games as goalkeeper, allowing 15 goals and registering a .890 GAA, 72 saves and a .828 save percentage. Additionally, Hayley Jakovich was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday after anchoring a defense that allowed just one goal in XU's last two games.
Thursday's game will be the fifth meeting between the two schools. The Hoyas lead the all-time series 5-0-0 and have allowed only one goal from the Musketeers, which occurred in the first meeting ever between the two schools in 2013. Last season, Georgetown shut out Xavier 1-0 at Shaw Field.
Following Thursday's match, the Blue & Gray will host the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 1 at Shaw Field after earning a bye in the quarterfinals.
