WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's cross country team captured the rare four-peat at the 2018 BIG EAST Championships in Carmel, Indiana joining Providence College as the only two schools to win four-consecutive BIG EAST titles. The women's squad turned in an impressive second-place overall finish just behind Villanova. Georgetown Men's Recap (1st of 9, 32 points)
The Georgetown men were able to put together a complete race as All-American Nick Wareham (Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury) led the way with a second place overall performance in the men's 8K race with a time of 24:08.7. Four hoyas finished in the top ten with Jack Van Scoter (Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep), Matthew Bouthillette (North Providence, R.I. / La Salle Academy) and Christian Liddell (Rogers, Ark. / Rogers) turning in 4th, 7th and 8th-place finishes, respectively, behind Wareham. Jack Salisbury (Rumford, R.I. / La Salle Academy) rounded out the scoring for the Blue & Gray with an 11th-place finish and a time of 24:58.6.

"I'm very proud of this group for winning our fourth-straight conference title," Head Men's Cross Country Coach Brandon Bonsey said. "They came together as a group and ran their best team race of the year. Villanova and Butler are very good teams, so I was impressed with how we matched up with them. We will enjoy this today, but we have to recover and get ready for the NCAA Regional meet in two weeks."

"The women had a great team race and fought hard to finish second today," said Director of Track & Field / Cross Country Julie Culley. "We were down by three points to Providence with 1000 meters to go and ended up beating them by three.  Every one of our top five fought for those points.
