Arielle Schechtman (Del Mar, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day / UCLA) was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday, closing out the final round of the league's weekly awards. The senior goalkeeper was applauded for her performance against Xavier last Thursday that resulted in a scoreless tie.
The No. 4 Georgetown women's soccer team earned a BIG EAST weekly award recognition every week this season and Schechtman collected a total of six weekly awards, including five Goalkeeper of the Week titles.
The Hoyas finished the regular season last Thursday at Xavier with an overall record of 15-0-3 and 8-0-1 in the BIG EAST. Against the Musketeers, Schechtman played 110 minutes in goal, recording a total of three saves. She tallied her 12th shutout of the season and 44th overall.
On Saturday, Schechtman was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year for the second year in a row. She leads the country in GAA (.240), save percentage (.940) and shutouts (12).
Up next, the top-seeded Blue & Gray will host the BIG EAST Championship semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 1 at Shaw Field, taking on fourth-seeded Xavier.
