WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's and women's cross country teams solidified a total of five All-Region honorees for the 2018 NCAA Division I Cross Country season and were recognized Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following Regional Championship Weekend. In total, 225 men and 225 women from 150 different programs earned the award.
To be named to the All-Region team by the USTFCCCA, a student-athlete must finish in the top-25 overall at one of the nine regional sites across the country.
From the men's group, Georgetown juniors
Matthew Bouthillette (North Providence, R.I. / La Salle Academy) and
Jack Van Scoter (Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep), as well as sophomore
Jack Salisbury (Rumford, R.I. / La Salle Academy) and senior
Nick Wareham (Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury) were recognized from the Mid-Atlantic region. Wareham led the Hoyas with an impressive second-place finish at regionals. Van Scoter followed closely behind finishing sixth while Bouthillette and Salisbury finished 15th and 19th, respectively.
Paige Hofstad (New Braunfels, Texas / New Braunfels) was the lone selection on the women's side who finished in 16th place.
On the men's side, the Blue & Gray tied for the most honorees in the region with four selections alongside Penn State, Princeton and Villanova.
With top-10 finishes last Friday at Penn State, both Wareham and Van Scoter have qualified to compete individually at the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wisconsin this Saturday, Nov. 17.
