WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's cross country standouts
Nick Wareham (Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury) and
Jack Van Scoter (Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) are prepared for their final race of the 2018 fall campaign as they head back to Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday for the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships, hosted by University of Wisconsin. Both men received automatic individual bids following their stellar performance last weekend at the 2018 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals in State College, Pennsylvania. The men will bring toes to the line at 12:45 p.m. ET for the men's 10-kilometer race. The Hoyas will run at the Madison Zimmer Championship Course and the event will be streamed live on FloTrack, which is available to view through a subscription to the site.
Saturday Preview
Wareham enters this race coming off impressive back-to-back second-place finishes at regionals last weekend and at the 2018 BIG EAST Championships in Carmel, Indiana back in October. Wareham has been the low stick for the Hoyas during their postseason races this year and was an instrumental part to Georgetown's effort in capturing its fourth-consecutive BIG EAST title.
Following a sixth-place performance at regionals, Van Scoter is also ready to compete against the nation's top runners. He was a valuable point scorer for the Blue & Gray at the BIG EAST Championships as he finished in fourth place overall, only 14 seconds behind Wareham. Van Scoter has been on the championship stage for the Hoyas before, scoring points at the 2016 NCAA Cross Country Championships held in Terre Haute, Indiana.
On Monday, both Wareham and Van Scoter were selected as honorees for the USTFCCCA All-Region Team for finishing in the top 25 overall in their respective region.
"Nick and Jack are very well prepared for tomorrow's NCAA meet," Head Men's Cross Country Coach
Brandon Bonsey said. "Both guys came off of the regional meet well and I believe they have their legs back underneath them. As a program, we aim to be our very best in the postseason and I believe Nick and Jack are ready to run their best races of the season."
