WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's cross country duo of Nick Wareham (Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury) and Jack Van Scoter (Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) both competed well in the 10-kilometer run at the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships held at the Madison Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin. Wareham finished in 53rd place while Van Scoter followed close behind with a 64th-place finish.

"I'm very pleased with how Nick and Jack competed," Head Men's Cross Country Coach Brandon Bonsey said. "53rd and 64th is big time running here. They were hurting bad halfway through and both showed a ton of grit to stick with it and run tough, team races. They were very close to being All-Americans, but both had great seasons and have put themselves in a position to have fantastic track seasons."
 
Wareham entered the race coming off impressive back-to-back second-place finishes at regionals last weekend and at the 2018 BIG EAST Championships in Carmel, Indiana back in October. Wareham has been the low stick for the Hoyas during their postseason races this year and was an instrumental part to Georgetown's effort in capturing its fourth-consecutive BIG EAST title.
 
With the 64th-place finish and a time of 30:21.5 on Saturday, Van Scoter proved that he can compete with the best of the best. He has been a valuable point scorer all season for the Blue & Gray with strong showings at the BIG EAST Championships and the Penn State National meet.

The Hoyas will take the rest of the month off and open the indoor season at the U.S. Naval Academy in December. Both teams will open the season at the Navy Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 1.
