The Hoyas opened the 2018-19 season with a 73-53 victory over the University of Richmond Spiders Tuesday evening at the Robins Center. A big first half propelled the Blue & Gray to the victory to move to 1-0 on the season.

Dorothy Adomako (Midlothian, Va. / Cosby), playing in her first game back from injury, led the way with 14 points hitting 2 of 3 from beyond the arc. She also managed three rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks. Guard

Anita Kelava (Zagreb, Croatia / Croatian National Team / Maine) all managed 11 points. White had nine rebounds, while Kelava had nine boards as well as three blocks in her first game in a Georgetown uniform.
The Hoyas outrebounded the Spiders, 45-31, and forced 13 turnovers on eight steals while committing just 11 turnovers in the contest. Georgetown shot 46.4 percent (32-of-69) from the field, and allowed just 30.4 percent (17-of-56) shooting from Richmond.
White earned BIG EAST Conference Preseason honors at the league's annual women's basketball media day held at Madison Square Garden in New York. Additionally, the Hoyas were picked to finish fifth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 52 points.
Already this season, White was one of 20 student-athletes nationally named to the 2019 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The annual award, in its second year, recognizes the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball.
The Hawks are 0-1 on the season, falling to East Carolina 84-69 in the season opener. Keyera Eaton led all scorers with 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds and added a pair of assists and a pair of steals. Ciani Byrom finished with 19 points, five rebounds, six assists and a steal. UMES was picked fifth in the MEAC in the preseason poll. Byrom and Bairesha Gill-Miles were both selected as preseason all-conference.
The Hoyas are 4-0 all-time against the Hawks and 3-0 at home. The last meeting was a 71-60 victory in Princess Anne during the 2015-16 season. Adomako led the way for the Hoyas with 23 points and seven rebounds, while senior guard Katie McCormick managed 14 points and six boards. The last meeting in The District was an 88-75 victory the year prior.
