WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team returns to Capital One Arena on Saturday to host the Southern Methodist University Mustangs. Tipoff is scheduled for noon. The game is the first of four straight at home to close out GU's nonconference schedule.
Saturday's game can be seen live on FS1 with Justin Kutcher handling the play-by-play and Doug Gottlieb providing anlaysis. The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season on the call. A link to live stats is available at GUHoyas.com.

Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y. / Wings Academy) led three Hoyas in double figures. Govan recorded his third double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 boards while freshman
Mac McClung (Gate City, Va. / Gate City) chipped in a career-high 18 points. Senior
Greg Malinowski (Chantilly, Va. / Episcopal / William & Mary) went 3 for 3 from downtown and rounded out those in double figures with his GU-best 11 points. Freshman
Josh LeBlanc (Baton Rouge, La. / Madison Prep Academy) matched Govan with 12 rebounds while junior
Jagan Mosely (Marlboro, N.J. / St. Anthony) paced the office with four assists.
On Monday, Govan was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second-consecutive week. It is the fourth time this season and the 10th time in his career that he has earned this accolade. The Syracuse game marked the 18th-straight contest where Govan tallied double figures dating back to the 2017-18 season.
Govan leads the Hoyas this season, averaging 19.8 ppg and 8.1 rpg. He ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in scoring and third in rebounding. Freshman
James Akinjo (Oakland, Calif. / Salesian College Preparatory) is also in double figures, averaging 13.0 ppg and has a team-high 42 assists. McClung is averaging 9.2 ppg, while LeBlanc is chipping in 9.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg and a team-high .674 field goal percentage.
SMU enters Saturday's game with a 6-4 record after a 67-59 loss at TCU, breaking the team's four-game win streak. Leading scorer Jahmal McMurray led the way with 19 points and leads the team with 18.7 ppg. McMurray leads four Mustangs averaging double figures per game, including Ethan Chargois (13.8), Jimmy Whitt Jr. (11.8), and Isiaha Mike (10.2). Chargois leads the team with 7.2 rpg.
This is the second ever matchup between the Hoyas and the Mustangs. GU came away with a 37-36 victory over the No. 9 seed in the West Region SMU in the second round of the 1984 NCAA Tournament.
Patrick Ewing put up 10 points in the win. The top-seed out of the West Region, the Hoyas went on to defeat UNLV, Dayton, Kentucy and Houston to win the 1984 NCAA Championship.
Following the matchup against SMU, Georgetown will host Appalachian State on Tuesday, Dec. 18. Tipoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Capital One Arena.
