WASHINGTON – Georgetown University senior center
Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y. / Wings Academy) was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the league on Monday. It is the third time this season and the ninth time in his career that he has earned the distinction.
Govan tallied a season-high 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting and a perfect 7-of-7 performance from the free throw line in a 1-0 week for the Blue & Gray. Govan's 29 led a quartet in double figures as Georgetown (6-1) defeated the visiting Richmond Spiders 90-82 at Capital One Arena. Govan also led the squad as he grabbed nine rebounds in the game and managed a pair of steals in 36 minutes on the floor.
The center is currently 19.9 ppg to lead the team in scoring and averages a squad-best 7.3 rpg. He has scored in double figures in 16-straight games dating back to the 2017-18 season when he dropped 23 points at then-No. 6/6 Xavier on Feb. 3.
Georgetown is back in action on Monday, as the Hoyas close out a three-game homestand, hosting the Liberty University Flames at Capital One Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and a link to live stats is available at GUHoyas.com.
The game will be shown live on FS2 with John Fanta providing the play-by-play and Sarah Kustok providing analysis. The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season calling the game.
