WASHINGTON –  Georgetown University freshman forward Josh LeBlanc (Baton Rouge, La. / Madison Prep Academy) was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday.  Additionally, senior center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y. / Wings Academy) was selected to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the week.
 
Both LeBlanc and Govan played 26 minutes and recorded double-doubles in the Hoyas final nonconference game vs. Howard on Saturday.  In his second start of the season, LeBlanc contributed a career-high 22 points (7-7 FGA, 8-12 FTA) and game-high 11 rebounds and Govan added a team-high 23 points (10-16 FGA, 2-2 FTA) and 10 rebounds to lead the team to a 102-67 victory over the Bison.
 
For the season, LeBlanc is averaging 9.8 ppg and 8.1 rpg. His 8.1 rpg are tied for second in the BIG EAST with Xavier's Naji Marshall. Govan is averaging a team-high 18.3 ppg and 7.5 rpg.
 
"We're better than we were at the start of the season and we keep improving and have more chemistry," Govan said. "That just came with playing more games together and finding out where guys like the ball and getting to know each other better. I'm excited for the BIG EAST to start. It's my last time to play in it and I hope we can make a lot of noise."
 
The Hoyas concluded their nonconference schedule with a 10-3 record and begin BIG EAST play on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at Butler University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hinkle Fieldhouse and the game will be shown live on MASN2 regionally and on FSN with Brandon Gaudin and Nick Bahe calling the action.  The game can be heard locally on WOL 1450 AM with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season calling the game.
