WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's basketball junior guard Dionna White (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Hoyas to a 1-1 week.
In a road swing against the two first-place teams in the BIG EAST, White averaged 30.0 points per game, along with .581 shooting, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.5 assists. The junior led the Hoyas to its first win over a ranked opponent since 2014 with 33 points, four rebounds and four steals at RV/24 DePaul on Friday. She followed that with 27 points off 11-of-18 shooting, four rebounds and two dimes in Georgetown's three-point setback at -/RV Marquette on Sunday.
White began the weekend averaging 17.7 points per game and by the end of the weekend bumped that mark up to 18.6 to rank second in the BIG EAST. With one weekend remaining, the Hoyas are the only team so far to earn series splits with both the Blue Demons and Golden Eagles.
