WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's basketball senior forward Cynthia Petke (Yaounde, Cameroon/-/Chipola College) was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Hoyas to a 2-0 week.

Petke averaged 19.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 assists. She posted back-to-back double-doubles in wins over Creighton (70-67) and Providence (74-48), beginning with 18 points and 14 rebounds against the Bluejays and followed by 21 points and 17 boards against the Friars. Petke finished the regular season with a BIG EAST-leading 17 double-doubles and 20 double-digit rebounding performances.

The senior is leading the Hoyas in rebounds with 10.4 on the year as well as ranking second in scoring with 13.9 ppg. Her numbers rank her second in the BIG EAST in rebounding, and 11th in the league in scoring. Her 17 double-doubles rank her ninth in the nation.

This is GU's third player of the week award this season, and second-consecutive honor, and the second of Petke's career. She has also been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll twice this season.

The Hoyas will face the third-seeded Villanova Wildcats on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
