Final Stats
PHILADELPHIA - Georgetown University's 11th-ranked men's lacrosse team lost its first game of the season, a 15-10 setback on the road at Drexel on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas drop to 6-1 on the season while the Dragons improve to 3-4.
Jake Carraway (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) led the Hoyas with four goals while Daniel Bucaro (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) added a goal and two assists for three points. Lucas Wittenberg (Kennesaw, Ga./Harrison/Mercer) notched a pair of goals, Craig Berge (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) scored a goal to go with an assist and both Greg Galligan (Oyster Bay Cove, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Robert Clark (Cooksville, Md./McDonogh School) found the back of the net as well.
Georgetown took the early advantage in the game, scoring three of the first four goals of the game en route to a 3-2 lead after the first quarter. Drexel controlled the battle at the faceoff `X' however, and capitalized on the advantage to post seven goals in the second quarter to take a 9-5 lead going into halftime.
An early goal from Carraway in the third period cut Georgetown's deficit to just three at the 11:42 mark, down 9-6, but a pair of 10-minute scoring droughts coupled with four-straight goals from the Dragons put the game out of reach for the Hoyas.
Matthew Varian led Drexel with six goals and an assist. Chre Teitelbaum collected 12 saves in goal for the Dragons.
Up next for Georgetown, the Hoyas return to the friendly confines of Cooper Field as they host No. 9/8 Loyola Maryland on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
